So you ladies made this tedious work no man was ever bothered about such things.

What you all need is one of these each:-
Do you know where we can find one?

Anyone want to come round to mine tonight and iron name labels on all the new school uniform ? I will keep you supplied with booze and social chit chat ! ( would be handy if you could sew too as I have a blazer and badge that need to be attached to each other !)

I would help out but not with needle and thread, I'm more of a craft type person - staples, glue or sellotape any good?

Cool Re: My New Iron

The old style irons were the best. You know the ones before thermostats were invented. The ones that got hotter and hotter until you switched the electric off.

That took real skill in ironing without burning the clothes.

They also had another function in the navy. We would get some bread from the galley, someone would swipe some Marge and we made toast by placing the hot iron on a slice of bread.

You can't do that with a steam iron. You get crumbs in the steam holes.

So thats were the idea for Geo Formans came from. Never mind toast I would be doing a medium rare steak on it.
