National flags banned
Ya gonna love this one
From www.arsenal.com
Club statement - National flags
Some of our fans have been upset with the flying of certain flags denoting particular regions of the world
Arsenal as a club prides itself on being inclusive with respect to all nationalities, cultural and ethnic groups.
We have therefore decided that in order for all of our fans to enjoy their experience at Emirates Stadium, we are asking that only flags in support of Arsenal Football Club, without any national emblems, are displayed within the stadium.
We will be implementing this policy with immediate effect. Thank you for your assistance in this matter.

Something bad is rearing its head here, you have a flag that aint about footy you aint ENGLISH. Well that sounds about right at this time of day.

Maybe it's not just ours but the fact is our flag is yet again banned from appearing in public in our own country.
It's more than likely our flag has been the subject of complaint from others which is why they introduced the total ban.
On the other hand you could also ask why a British flag would need to be flown in the Arsenal ground, probably the only nationality who doesn't play for them these days.

Re: National flags banned
Whoever thought of this ludicrous ruling should be frog-marched from the Emirates Stadium to Trafalger Square and slotted.
Yet again the mard-arsed, pinko, bleedin'-heart, politically correct liberal brigade are scared about upsetting someone.
In the words of the late, great Joe Strummer... "This is England!"

Re: National flags banned
I take it the sponsors Flag will be flown or at least be there in representation? Flags and football have long been associated and most UK Clubs are virtually made up with a large international contingent of players, I think on that basis it should be acceptable to fly the National Flag of the player you appreciate particularly if you the same Nationality.
If the supporters in the main fly an English/British Flag then all well and good. This is just bollocks born out of some arseholes pc pickings. I think the supporters of that club should boycott the ground for a week and see how long the ban lasts.

I'd like to see him do it again, very, very soon. Viva Boco, Viva Benin.

Re: National flags banned
I think that if a team has a contingent of multinational players that see their own national flag then it makes them feel honoured and accepted. Having flags at a game has always been part of the game hether it is club national or the flag of the country a player comes from. Its not to wind the opposing fans up it is to honour the international player(s) in the team they support.
Besides on a dull wet Saturday afternoon it adds a nice bit of colour.

Re: National flags banned
I take it this stadium is owned by the oil rich 'born in the right bed' arab brothers, you can bet their flag will be on full display in the boadroom, no prizes for guesing who sent this 'request' for non flying of national flags down, these foreighners get to much of their own way. the time to stop it is now, and we may see what the Arsenal supporters are made of.

Re: National flags banned
If all fans reguardless of ethnic origin want to show their support for a certain player should be allowed to. Lets say Pierre Cerrac who has a season ticket wants to hoist the French flag with Tierre Henry on then let him he has paid for that privilige by buying his season ticket. Too many clubs forget its the fans and supporters who make a club by purchasing tickets replica kits and all the other trimmings that we like. Would these numpties be still around if the buying power stopped? Footy is a global business and a few unhappy fans can dent the coffersby what they buy or dont buy and ManU are a good example.
