New funding opportunity

I received this the other day.

On the Accrington Pals thread it was suggested that more things should be done to bring muslim and christian communities together.

Two groups that I am involved in will be going for funding from this pot - Hyndburn Women's Forum and Hyndburn Community Festival Association. I am trying to demonstrate that by going for funding for Accy Pals via Heritage it is not excluding community cohesion groups going for funding under different pots. If anyone is part of a community group and feel that they would benefit from this funding please let me know and I will help to advise them.

New Funding Available!

CDF is administering a new grants scheme for local communities, on behalf of the Home Office, to increase race equality and community cohesion within their own communities.
This £1 million fund is aimed at a local level and CDF believes local communities are in an excellent position to work with others to improve their own situations.
The grants scheme, Connecting Communities Plus, Community Grants, welcomes applications from small, locally run and managed voluntary and community organisations, often run by volunteers, who want to improve opportunities for people locally and to improve relations between people of different ethnic and/or faith backgrounds.
The Fund has four key priorities derived from 'Improving Opportunity, Strengthening Society', the Government strategy to increase race equality and community cohesion:
A. Improving the experience of people from Black andMinority Ethnic (BME) backgrounds in relation to access to and outcomes from public services - education, employment, health, housing and the Criminal Justice System
B. Increasing the confidence of people from BME backgrounds that public services are delivered in a fair and equitable way
C. Tackling racism and extremism
D. Bringing together communities from different races and faiths, and promoting a shared sense of belonging (community cohesion)
The fund is available for groups/organisations in England.
Further details are attached and the paperwork can also be downloaded at:
http://www.cdf.org.uk/bfora/systems/.../26&xsl_argx=2.
Alternatively, if you would like to talk to us about this fund please ring 01223 400343 or email us at [email protected].
Closing date for applications is 5th July 2006.

Re: New funding opportunity

By the way, you can see that this funding is from the HOme Office - therefore from central government which of course, means that it's from us - our tax etc.

If you object to the fund then obviously I understand (it's been discussed many times before, take it up with the government) - all I'm trying to do is claw back some money for Hyndburn.
