Re: New NHS Dentist

Oh Mez, i also went to Bury. All i can say is that Bury was to Dentists what Shipman was to GPs. He was terrible, i am lucky he hasn't left me with a fear of dentists. Just writing this brings back memories of the smell of that dentist (the actual building not the dentist himself,) enough to give me nightmares.

Re: New NHS Dentist

i used to take my g/daughter to him at antley, she had an accident when she was 14yrs & chipped a chunk off her front tooth, i asked him if he could cap it or something but he was very brusq (spelling) when he said no, then i noticed his hands were shaking & he would always wear a mask o frightening, needless to say she aint got a dentist now.

Re: New NHS Dentist

last time i needed a dentist i had chronic tooth ache late on a friday night , i rang the ossy clinic 24 hour emergency line to get an answering machine so tried the nhs one at blackburn infirmary they told me to contact my local one as theres nothing they could do so had to put up with it all night .I went straight to my own one in ossy first thing and they sorted it straight away about four hours later i received a call about my answering machine message id left on the supposed 24 hour line of which the main dentist from ossy then asked me to register with baron at antley which is a bit hypocritical as they fired him .He wasnt good enough to work for them yet it s perfectly ok to try and fob off there clients to him and even hes fully booked up now .How many people are without a dentist these days ?

Re: New NHS Dentist

Thanks for the info Janet. I have phoned this morning and had my details taken. It was pretty painless I haven't had a dentist since Mr Cookson retired and as much as I hate going to the dentist, I really can't bear the thought of my teeth being knackered. I have nice teeth and it took a lot of painful treatment as a child to get them that way. It is torturing me knowing that I have a big box of Thorntons Special Toffee in the kitchen which I daren't eat for fear of losing a filling and having no dentist to replace it.

Re: New NHS Dentist

Talking about Mr Bury at antley villa, i worked for him from 1968 till 1970, all i can say is YES he was a butcher, he took one of my teeth out soon after i started working for him, and i ended up seeing a specialist at BRI because he damaged my jaw bone, it used to lock it self and i had to force it open by pulling it.I had trouble with for many years, you could here it clicking when i opened and closed my mouth. Never again did i let him near my teeth i went to Lawsons instead. If it was to happen today then no doubt i would be able to sue.

I haven't made that phone call yet...... but I have picked the phone up a couple of times and then freaked at the thought of letting some poor devil peer into the cavern of my mouth......I will be scared witless and so embarrassed at the state my teeth are in...... think they may all have to come out...... what a horror!
