New passport centres
http://www.lancashiretelegraph.co.uk...east_lancs.php
Do you think it will cut fraud or will it be used for big brother monitoring & targeting ???
I have my reservations about all this, as no doubt the cost for a passport will go up to pay for these centres, but also people getting personal information off u unnecessarily. Do i beleive it cuts fraud - not as much as the claims & in the wrong hands could be potentionally dangerous!! Also yet again the minority of the population will not be able to afford a passport, so really will this stop criminality of fraud. Also the information claimed to be able to check into all your history & all records against u - surely is a breach of civil privacy & personal stuff - that strangers in passport offices & who ever else can know ALL about u, also open to abuse this information!! How often i go for a pee should need to be up for anyone to know about gee is nowt private.
Im not convinced are u?

Re: New passport centres
No, neither am I......for one thing we have had 'porous' borders for too long.
The government has absolutely no idea how many people have come into this country illegally...and what is more they are prepared to do nothing about it.
Being strict on the issuing of passports is a bit late if you ask me.....the phrase about stable doors and horses bolting springs to mind.

Re: New passport centres
It’s late in coming, but better late than never. If we have nothing to hide we need not worry about big brother scenarios. I only hope that when illegal immigrants and fraudsters are found their deported immediately with none of this human rights bollocks.

Re: New passport centres
I feel that if you have nothing to hide then you shouldn't be afraid of these more stringent checks;if it means we actually know who is coming and going in and out of our country so much the better. Fingerprints would be better still. I have nothing to hide and would happily do that if it went some way to ensuring my families safety.

I've seen the government here misuse information, sometimes blatantly.
It's none of the government's business. And it should stay that way.

entwisi probably left that opportunity on purpose.
In any case, just contributing some silly fun. Glad you enjoyed it!

The information they are asking or could be held on record is like family, education records, medical records, no doubt NI & tax details even credit score/check details etc - now that is going too far just to record people going on hols, isnt it?
