New shop opening?
I was walking through the Arndale today and there were a load of workmen in the Replay shop putting new shop fittings in. Any insiders care to elaborate as to whose going in?
Ian

Re: New shop opening?
A whole store dedicated to the wonderful world of panopticons!!! Sadly not,it's even worse.....Birthdays Cards are moving into it from their current site next to Specsavers.I am greatly concerned about the number of card shops one town can maintain, esp as Birthdays and Clintons are the same company! And the mark up on the things is extortionate! Grrr.

Re: New shop opening?
If Birthdays is moving then I wonder which charity shop will be opening in it's old store.

Re: New shop opening?
I can help you out there too,the old newsagents is going to be a showroom for the bike place across the road;think it's Clarke's. The excitement never ends in Accy centre does it???

Re: New shop opening?
Bike - as in the motorised type, or the pedal type?

Re: New shop opening?
The motorised variety Vorlon, given the size of the unit I would imagine it's just going to be for boots/helmets/etc etc.

Re: New shop opening?
The shop, is going to be empty-nothing in it. It's so they can keep up with the Accy slogan "Come to Accy & save money, spend nowt but a penny!"(Or is it 10p now girls?)

Re: New shop opening?
Well, it will be empty, after the local collection of delinquents have helped themselves

Re: New shop opening?
How many empty shops are there in Accy town center?
How many charity shops?
Retail all over the country is struggling with profits down last month, but why on earth did the council see fit to build more [still empty] retail units when there are so many empty properties already?
As icing on the cake, the council are trying to make market stall holders/shop tennants pay business rates council tax which was previously included in their rent.
If you didn't have to, you certainly wouldn't travel to Acrington for a days shopping experience, even the market is as interesting as a day's forraging up Whinney Hill tip.
