Some how this story about hacking has taken a new twist, its one thing, although wrong, hacking the phone of a film star or footballer, but this was despicable, to be quite honest I've always wondered how low some journalist will stoop to gain a story "in the public interest" whatever that means ( have never quite worked out what that statement means because I don't give a toss about what these headline grabbers are up to) but this is lower than the low, hope the barsteward responsible gets what he or she deserves.

I think this has gone beyond the usuall talk about who resigns from wherever.. like I said if anyone has hacked, listened or interfered with the phone of a 13 yr old unless they are the parents .. they should be in custody right now.. I find it incredible that these people have not been nicked.. I would think any present laws would lead to the arrest of anyone who did this.

Sorry but I must make it plain... if a grown man who is not a member of the girls family has hacked and deleted messages on a 13yrs old phone he should be in police custody right now.. I don't think I'm wrong .

re: News of the World Mobile Phone Hacking

I would guess it would be some telecommunications law which might be so outdated as to not cover voicemail.

Oh yea and could be some bit of paper that slipped into the shredder.. these bods have interfered with a massive search and maybe disrupted that search.. well yet again I'll say if anyone hacks a 13yrs old phone it's a nasty crime.. and anyone involved should be taken in.

I agree it is very nasty but they can only prosecute using the laws they have, no law for being 'very nasty' which would often be useful.

Would agree, they can. However, there seems to be widespread public outrage about the situation. I hope this will be translated into piles of unsold NoW's in newsagents, shops and supermarkets this Sunday.

As a lifelong member of the Cynical Party, I wouldn't bet on it, though.

Editor of the NOTW at the time Milly's phone was hacked, Rebekah Brooks (née Wade.)

Close friend of the Blairs, and David Cameron.

Refused four times to go before the cross-party parliamentary enquiry, to answer questions about the phone hacking.

Pays to have friends in high places.

The establishment looks after itself. The public, however, can hit them where it hurts by taking their custom elsewhere.

The word on the street is that people are planning a Liverpool style boycot, which followed the Sun's Hillsborough reports, for anything to do with Murdoch's empire.

...and of course there are Facebook groups, if people want to register their support for a boycott of Murdoch's News International group.

I sincerely hope it happens. I can't join in, because I don't buy any of his papers or have Sky. If there's any sort of protests anywhere near me, I'll be there!
