The only changes to the NHS that is urgently needed is to cut out the waste, its long been known that only about 70p in every pound is used for the better of the services, there's a lot of red tape and bureaucracy needs sorting out, the first step forward would be to put people in charge with a medical background not people who have previously made a living selling baked beans to supermarkets

The way that the NHS operates gives some credence to the conspiracy theory that
......there is a population cull well under way

John, there are too many managers on big salaries......these should be whittled down to the minimum. That alone would save vast sums of money.
The NHS should stop dancing to the tunes played by the politicians...get rid of the league tables, they mean nothing in real terms and patients whose clinical condition does not require urgent treatment get it, so that some manager can satisfy government targets.
Make sure that suppliers are giving value for money and if they aren't then the contract for services should be removed.
Put more staff on the front line...where patient contact is the prime concern.
Rocket science?...it isn't.

Absolutely spot on Margaret, and you've seen things first hand, there's a raft of management that could be dispensed with, without any problem, but there are to many people with their fingers in the pie.
