Well, the Pagan festival of the winter solstice would still exist.
Perhaps that would be the commercial giant that Christmas is had Christianity not taken over the West?

I hate to sound horribly like the accywebbers I normally mock but if you had read the entire thread you would see someone mention that huge efforts have been made this year to restore the statues that normally go inside it. therefore it should be an 'outstanding' effort, not a tatty one :P
