Not in Preston's Back Yard
To Preston yesterday, to visit the premises of Bako Northwestern Ltd. My life is a hectic social whirl, I know.
Anyway, the premises are located on the outskirts of Preston in Ribbleton. How grand! How verdant! Miles of shady tree lined avenues, roundabouts and juctions copiously supplied with sculpture. By the side of Bako's premises there is even a Hotel and a fishing lake! You could hardly imagine that it was an industrial estate. It is beautiful, well planned, spacious and a delight to visit. Indeed, you would never know that the M6 motorway passes right beside it.
It is abundantly clear where the vast bulk of the money that the government has pumped into the county has been spent! It is also clear, despite the abundance of empty plots there, why Lancashire County Council is insisting that the Huncoat power sation site is the only suitable place for the siting of the brand spanking new Waste Treatment Plant that they are railroading through the planning procedure.
Could you imagine the mess that the daily passage of hundreds of bin wagons would make to such a delightful and well planned and maintained industrial park? It would be shocking! Far better then to site it in some out of the way hole where it would not be noticed - like Huncoat!
Perhaps this might be something you would like to quiz the prospective County Council Candidates about when they come knocking at your door.
