now i know its unlike me to complain..

now i know its unlike me to complain but why the hell is the council digging up my back alley

dont get me wrong ime sure it will look very pretty afterwards but surely there are more deserving places that could do with a new layer of tarmac

could it be the binmen although now having wheels on the bins also want a nice smooth journey from the house to the bin waggon

i also wonder who gets the cobbles that are dug up as it is private contractors and ime pretty sure the cobbles will be worth a fair penny or two

now i feel i have raised a couple of valid points there but in truth this is the real reson why i am moaning

i wont be able to have my regular bombfire on the alley ever again although the thought of a river of flaming tarmac does bring a smile to my face

yes i know your not supposed to but the fire brigade dont have aproblem with it as i ask each year and am told as long as i am sensible there isnt a problem unless someone calls in the fire they will have to come out and makme sure its not a danger

always keep the neighbours sweet with a big pan of corrnbeef hash so never had a problem and they all get a free fire works display

i know its a small thing but that is one time of the year if not the only time of the year where most of the people from both sides of the alley get together for a bit of a chat and now it seems to be gone for ever

oh they also appreciate been able to get rid of their rubbish on the fire as well ime sure they save it just for me lol

I think they are doing it because HBC are short of cash and they need to sell the cobbles to raise some dosh.......!

Yhere are digging up and selling the cobbles to give the PHASE II redevolopment people money instaead if a grant. Or maybe it is a health and safety issue for binmen running buckets on the cobbles.

What a load of cobblers.

I quite like the sound of the rivers of tar.

There must be millions of cobbles underneath tarmac all over Accy. What a waste. At least salvaging them is a step in th right direction. Talking of salvage, there doesn't seem to have been much of that with Phoenix does there? Or have I missed it?

I remember bonfires in the back street when I was a kid and how bloomin dangerous thinking back - we used to run past the sides of the fire to get to the top or bottom to talk to different friends. Quick dash before the heat from fire had chance to register!!
Bin hole covers and backyard doors were nicely blistered the day after so it must have been hot!

Who cleaned up all the mess? It used to lurk around for days afterwards, piles of smouldering ashes with mattress springs sticking up out of it.

I've already been invited.

Sadly I won't be able to see the trick he does with cobbles and fire.
