DOES ANY ONE REMEMBER THE WORDS TO THE SONG WHICH WAS SUNG AT THE SATURDAY CLUB AT THE ODEON ON SATURDAY MORNINGS. IT STARTED " WE COME ALONG ON SATURDAY MORNING" WHEN WE HAD THE THREE CORNERED LOLLIES AT 3d EACH.

Re: Odeon Cinema Accrington

Is this it?

We come along on Saturday morning,
Greeting everybody with a smile,
We come along on Saturday morning,
Knowing it's well worthwhile,
As members of the Odeon club,
We all intend to be,
Good citizens when we grow up,
And champions of the free,
We come along on Saturday morning,
Greeting everybody with a smile, smile, smile,
Greeting everybody with a smile

Woolworth and M&S etc are now where those sunken gardens used to be.

I remember singing that Odeon club song and "following the bouncing ball" aaah happy days.

"Good citizens when we grow up,

I think that they should make this song compulsory in all of the borough's schools. That and the introduction of public flogging for minor offences. I am getting to the far end with all this namby-pamby "can't be named for legal reasons" Horse Sh*t! I think that juvenile delinquents should be made to stand in front of the Market Hall for the whole day on a Saturday with a placard of their misdeeds hung around their necks.

Can you imagine it? being forced to stand there with a sign around your neck which read something like "I was bored. so I beat up and robbed a pensioner" I wonder what the response of shoppers would be?

Re: Odeon Cinema Accrington

why cant our new local cinema bring back the saturday club and make it affordable for all the kids. it would utilise the cinema and give the youngsters an interest, and, maybe they could be taught the song, possibly making them think about becoming good citizens and champions of the free.
