Once we were having a family meal in a pub, there were about 12 of us there around a large table. As usual someone came during the meal to ask if everything was OK. The first time wasn't so bad, but then another waiter came and asked the same thing - then another one, and another one. It got beyond a joke. They were probably all doing what they'd been told to do. We made a joke of it and decided to take it in turns to reply but Busman did say that 'everything' would be a lot better if we could just be left in peace to enjoy our meal.
Nobody swore at anybody - it wasn't necessary.

You feel rushed and if that happens your customers are not relaxed so will not remember the visit for the reasons you want. So are less likely to come back. Id love to run a pub/resturant of my own but due to financal funds not being there i cant. And when the other people watch you eat that gets me too. Ive been tempted to go over and sit next to them and ask if they would like to try my food on more than one occassion

Good to hear that something is up!
To all the folks who are not happy with Christmas, I say a loud "Scrooge You!" Sounds nasty but meaning, of course, that I hope these folks end up as happy and merry as old Ebenezer!smowman.gif

Re: Oh bar humbug
Some things aren't worth getting stressy about. Either you can change something or you can't. If you can, then do. If you can't then no amount of stressy is going to make it any better.
I know what you mean silvermain about feeling rushed in a restaurant but it's as easy to ask them politely to give you a little more time as it is to tell them to go forth and multiply. The former usually ends up with everybody happy, the latter with people feeling aggressive and unhappy. I'd rather have the former.
The girls and I have put some decorations up tonight. The cats have studied carefully which ones they plan to pull down before morning. We'll be dong more as the week goes on.

Re: Oh bar humbug
dont really get stressed about the run up or xmas, dont go a bundle on it either, but dont dislike it. the hype and crap 3/4 months before by advertisers etc, i got a mute button. tree went up sat night, mind the kids are long gone so thats a blessing.

That's all it was, we were having a grumble about how the kids are growing up more than anything. Mine and Mels youngest are 9 year old this time, so for us it's just lost that magic, as you say of their little faces at all the pressies. As they get older the prices get higher but the box's get smaller. They more or less choose want they want, so only the odd surprise.
So really it's not a moan about Christmas season, it's my kids getting older. I read a really inspiring thread on burnley web earlier which certainly main me think

Re: Oh bar humbug
I hate the run up to christmas. I have always loved Christmas eve better than Christmas day.
Now the children are all grown Christmas Eve is our Christmas Day. MUMMIBOO still has that big grin and the wide eyes. it dosnt seem like 12 months since last christmas.
it comes far to early.
It's hard work when you have loads of Grandchildren and they prefare loads of bits rather than a couple of decent presants.
