Oh No, more about the election!
Yes I'm afraid so, I just got this through the door. (please see attached pictures).
Doreen Politt, I must confess I do not recall her (this is to my shame), however she looks a nice enough person and if I voted because a person looks nice she would probably get my vote.
Another plus is that she seems to be a woman of few words, the only bumph seems to be on the back page.
Also I like the sincerity in the phrase under her name:-
Working Hard For Accrington West
Where I think she is let down is in the centre two pages, she is proud to show what her hard work for Accrington West has resulted in, oh, hang on!
Actually there isn't anything to do with Accrington West, in fact there is nothing at all to do with Hyndburn!
But they are very nice photo's I particularly like the one at the New Chorley Bus Centre where the Social Worker is giving lessons to a token Chav family on how to take a short cut over the railings.
Also the photograph of Fleetwood High School is quite fetching, I wonder do we have any members of accyweb that live on the Fylde Coast that now might be interested in hanging about outside the school gates?
The little bit of writing on the back page I won't bore you with as it just seems to be a list of facts & figures no interesting promises that she can break once she gets re-elected.
Ah, but what the heck she has at least let me know that she exists.

Re: Oh No, more about the election!
Perhaps she should move over to Accrington East, then she might be able to do something for Mani.

Re: Oh No, more about the election!
Here in the USA, there is generally a sense of relief (regardless of who actually wins the election), just from the fact that our televisions and mailboxes will be free from the adverts of the political candidates for an extended period. Do folks in the U.K. experience the same feelings of relief at the end of the election cycle?
Of course, our campaigns go on far, far too long!

Re: Oh No, more about the election!
I got my Dorothy Westell election bumf and it would appear that the centre spread is exactly the same as the Doreen Pollitt one, so they're obviously trying to show what Labour has done and not what they've done individually.

Re: Oh No, more about the election!
These are for County Council elections not HBC elections. It looks like all the Labour ones are the same.
We might as well just have one County Councillor for Hyndburn and save some money.

Re: Oh No, more about the election!
I must be in AccyWest because I've got a Doreen Pollitt leaflet too. What a total waste of paper that was.
I always thought I was central, now I know I'm west of central (sounds like the lyrics from an old song which I temporarily can't remember)

Re: Oh No, more about the election!
Ours went in the recycling bin, and was collected today
We've voted already, so have no need of it any more

Re: Oh No, more about the election!
I think Accy is split up because we have 5 representatives from Hyndburn on County Council. I don't know how it's split but assume it must be something to do with population and geography. If we only had one for the whole of Hyndburn we'd effectively lose 4 votes at County level.

Re: Oh No, more about the election!
Surely we need to be as well represented as possible at all levels.
