So how come these people have been moved in there? The mind boggles, pensioner flats should be just that, pensioner flats, and not a place to dump our degenerates etc, no doubt a reflection on the selling of council properties again, not enough property remaining to keep them seperate, and no doubt there were warnings beforehand, which were, as usual, ignored.

Re: Old lady attacked
It seems the norm that unless you you in an old folks block like Merlin Court or Kirk House, you only have the ground floor flats reserved for oldies and disabled.
The ground floor flats where I live have the system where they can summon help and have those key boxes outside their doors - being 1st floor I dont.
There is one young drunk in the next block down - but in my block we just have a mentally retarded chap who stomps up and down the staircase, and wanders out in the early hours calling for his cat.

If you feel you need an emergency call system margaret, you can have one installed, well I think you can, when I lived in a upstires flat on Mallard I had one installed, by way of the ordinary phone line but I had to pay a small monthly charge, wether this still applies I don't know as it is now a firm called Three Vallies. They used to be on a pull cord system but now they are on a defused button system, and runs through the phone line, I have an emergency call button which I have round my neck all day and next to me on the bed at night. I had cause to use it in July when I was taken into hospital, it is a must, especially for people with poor health and I think the elderly too who live on their own. Oh yes after talking about forgetting to lock the door at night, guess which dim wit forgot to lock his door last night

Re: Old lady attacked
I dont think that my health is bad enough to warrant having such a system.
I suppose if I didn't have everything delivered, I might well stuggle carrying shopping uphill and then up 13 concrete steps to my door.
If neighbours change and life deteriorates I will move to one of those newbuild privately owned blocks.
I dont get any help towards rent and could afford to pay more - just hope that what has happened to Wellington Court doesn't happen here.

Taking a cue from Sherlock Holmes, after much thought, I conclude that the forgetful person on this one occasion was yourself jaysay and you have lived to tell the tale.

Wellington Court used to be lovely, I lived in Nelson Street for a couple of years in the mid 70s when they hadn't been built long. Its very sad that it has now been bragged down to the state its in today, but its happening all over now, mores the pity

Re: Old lady attacked
I hope I don't have to resort to going into Merlin Court and such like blocks.
My mum and dad lived in one at Morecambe and I know some old ladies who live in that type of sheltered housing.
It amounts to a loss of privacy, and there are lots of gossipy old biddies with nothing better to do than bitch about other residents.
Also, you are somewhat at the mercy of the warden - if she isn't up to much, life can be made miserable.
So if I ever feel the need to move from here I will probably be paying through the nose to live with the city commuters at Pondside.

Re: Old lady attacked
Just wondering what sort of defence this scumbag will use when/if he is caught and charged. If he is having trouble forming a relationship(not that I believe that given some of the speciemens that appear to have managed to do so) what gives him the right to terrorise this poor lady? It really makes the mind boggle!!!

Re: Old lady attacked
Just read this and could not believe how low somebody could go.
Just disgusted and sickened by it.
Poor lady hope she can recover from this and hope the scumbag gets what he deserves.

Re: Old lady attacked
Hi Guys
The lady in question is my Grandmother and Ive just picked this thread up.
First of all I'd like to thank you for the well wishes and kind thoughts, my nana is very popular and is extremely well known and we've recieved many messages.
Nana is doing okay. She's away getting peace and rest.
Just to be clear; Lynx, I know your just reporting what you've been told, and if your friend is who i think she is then I know she spoke with nana yesterday morning but its not how it happened. I wont go into details as its very sensitive infomation and you dont really want to know.
I will say that we dont know whats happened with the door, nana is very much with it and doesnt represent a lady in her late 80's, its surprising that the door was unocked but it does happen and the residents are struggling with the new doors the council recently fitted. If it is the case she forgot to lock the door then its a sick twist of fate.
I've got to say that the Police have been fantastic. You wont believe the level of attention this is getting and they've looked after nana so well, they really cant do much more. They're satisfied with the progress but of course any information is needed.
My nana moved to Wellington Court about 15 yrs ago, it might be longer, i forget! Like I said earlier, she's lived in Accy all her life and has never wanted to leave. Back then, Wellington Court was a lovely place to live and we were really pleased when she got the flat from the council. It really was an oasis and I've spent many hours playing around there as a kid. Sadly, as mentioned, the place has just become an absolute disgrace. They're are shoving anyone in there including the local hooker that does a roaring trade throught the day and night.
Anyway, I'll pass on your regards and lets all hope that the evil sick twisted pervert is caught soon.

Re: Old lady attacked
It's disgusting what's happened, hope the lady can recover from this and hopefully continue with her life. Ho pe they catch him soon, that he gets remand and the gaurds forget to lock his cell door. He then might get what he deserves from the other inmates.

Re: Old lady attacked
No, there's no news yet, well nothing thats been reported to us. The man-power the police are putting into this is quite incredible.
She seems to be doing okay given the circumstances.
Justice - They could let me see to that...........................
I've mentioned your thanks and well-wishes and she's made-up.
