That surface can't be the best to try to clean chewing gum off. There are power blasters to do that kind of thing with aren't there? I wonder how many of them could have been bought for the thousands of pounds wasted on Hyndburnlite?

You cynic. It would be technical redistribution for a better use ie lighting up their drinks den.
Why it has been left like that beats me as it does the town no favours at all. As for who did it chop of their hands.

It's the council's responsibility to sort it out, they've spent all that money on the embarassment of broadway when all it needed was a good clean.
It looked far better when the flower beds were about.

Ah but they removed the flower beds in order to put the temporary market there whilst they demolished the old one and built the new one.

Re: One Down - Several to Go!

Whoevr said progress needs a bang on the head considering what has happened on Broadway. Trees damaged dodgy paving hell even the flower beds suffered. What kind of society have we created that does this to something that is meant for the benifit of all?

Re: One Down - Several to Go!

Dont agree with you Lanc, How can you say kids did this?? probably was kids but you have no proof to say it is kids. It could have been anybody coming home from a drunk night or just someone looking for abit of fun.

Too many people just say "bloody Kids Again"

Not as though some adults are angels is it?

I do hope they catch the little buggers. Nice punishment for em (after Rindy gets through with em) would be to put em in pink coveralls and have them all scrub the walks with toothbrushes! IMHO

There is an aerosol spray which quickly freezes the gum and it can be then easily scraped off. Trouble is that it is manual work - just like taking away a damaged tree

Well they've actually got around to removing the broken part today but look at the sorry little stump of a thing they left behind.

The Tree Council’s
National Tree Week
22 November – 3 December 2006
This is the Tree Council’s festival to mark the start of the tree planting season, and a nationwide celebration of trees and woods. Across the country there will be lots of opportunities to plant trees, or to take part in events, walks, talks, songs, story-telling and tree dressing.
