Re: One Down - Several to Go!
So ignoring the broken tree is more noble in your opinion? What a warped sense of reality you must have.
You must surely have noticed the many other threads on many other topics ranging from deadly (literally) serious to frivolous and humorous.

So?
Let the people who see this act of vandalism as just one more small way our environment is being made worse by a moronic minority, and have a moan, and go and start a thread about the bigger picture, and the real 'problems Accy has'.
Cut down one tree, no big deal. Cut down a thousand and you have a desert.

Who mentioned murder? You linking this to that tradgedy is just sick.
See above, go and start a thread on what you see as serious then.

Re: One Down - Several to Go!
No just reread the thread, no mention of murder from me.
Quote me and you get a golden acorn.

Re: One Down - Several to Go!
It doesn't compare to harvesting a tree for paper - that is controlled forestry. This is destructive vandalism. It's not about the tree itself. It's about the mentality of destruction for the sake of destruction - like the idiot who thinks it's fun to scratch the side of your car with a key and make a nice wavy line all the way along it. No big deal in the ultimate scheme of things but no joke for the car owner.
Because other things more serious happen why should we ignore vandalsm?

Emotion?
Just because Willow started a thread about an act of vandalism in an area that was recently renovated at public huge cost, and people commented on it, just shows concern, not a mass out pouring of hysteria.
Still waiting for you to leave this frivolous thread, and start one about the much more serious problems we face in Hyndburn.

Nobody is getting emotional about a flippin tree ya gret pud'n! It's destruction we don't appreciate, destruction of something which hasn't been there very long.

Like I said, I am very much looking forward to your thread on the more serious issues in Accrington, and look forward to posting in it.

In the great scheme of things it's not up there with ethnic cleansing, war, and starvation, but you could apply that to most things, people getting giddy about sport for instance.
