One rule for us,another for them!
Whilst in Town today with 2 reliable witnesses I saw a serious miscarriage of justice!A Traffic warden was prowling down Broadway from the top end near the pub and we outside the greengrocers;he checked every car in the disabled bays for badges meticulously.Just in front of the newly opened "Info Shop"[council run] was parked a red Skoda,no badge,no permit BUT it had a Hyndburn Borough Council compliments slip on the dashboard bearing the legend "at the Info Shop"
Did the Traffic warden ticket it I hear you ask???
No he bl**dy did not! He read the note and carried on his merry way!
It would seem our Traffic wardens are only "over zealous" [PB] when you are not a council employee!!!

Give a copy to the local press with a story - with elections coming up, they'll love that one!

I love how the parking wardens park on yellow lines to pick each other up in cars too. :/

Re: One rule for us,another for them!
I was walking up Dutton St. Accy last week and witnessed a car being booked for a parking offence. As I walked by, I noticed that the car had a disabled sticker on the dash.
On my return 20 minutes later I looked at all the cars parked in this road an all displayed a permit to specifically park in Dutton St........except the disabled owners car!
I checked his "clock" on the dash which indicated that the car had been there for 30 minutes. Why was a ticket issued?
Tell me if I am wrong but I was under the impression that a disabled car was allowed to park on yellow lines for a specified period providing that it wasn't dangerously parked. This particular car was safely parked albeit on a single yellow line (as were the permit cars)
Today, I saw myself again in Dutton St and sure enough, there was another disabled drivers vehicle with a ticket on the windscreen. I decided to check the signs in that road to find out just why it was so different from any other.
At the top of the road there is a no parking sign that says that permit holders, buses and loading vehicles only to park.....BUT, if you approach from the bottom, nearest the market, there are NO signs at all. Because of the issued permits, both sides of the road were almost full of parked cars so no wonder that disabled drivers would take advantage of any spaces to park their own vehicle.
This is nothing short of entrapment by the authorities and traffic wardens to penalise those who can least afford parking fines, and I am totally disgusted by this situation

Re: One rule for us,another for them!
Can I chuck a spanner in here? In order for these cars (disabled drivers and permit holders alike) to be facing UP Dutton Street as they invariably do would that not imply that they have reached it via the "bed settee"?

That's true, unless they've done a 3 point turn
