yet again teh issue of smoking in cars has popped up its ugly head by some witch doctor asking for it to be banned.

does anyone remember the good old days when if something smelt in a car such as ciggys or your dads fart you simply opened a window ?

Re: open a window

It does seem crazy, that doctors are calling for smoking to be banned in cars, even whilst driving alone.

I'm glad I've stopped driving, and traded my car in for a bird table.

Mind you, I never could manage to drive and smoke at the same time.

I had to pull over and stop...every mile or so.

And no doubt govt. will go along with this, and with much fanfare pass another bunch of laws to protect us from ourselves (Same thing's happn' here by the way)

Why is it that governments which are so obviously inept at managing the economy, foreign and domestic policy, and national defence etc., consider themselves experts when it comes to health and safety, and political correctness.

It is all about gaining absolute control over every aspect of our lives.
Democratic slavery is the best description of it.
When you vote them in you give your consent to pass laws on whatever takes their fancy.

It is absolutely crazy for calls to be made to legislate against drivers smoking in their cars.
Who is going to enforce any such legislation? The police won't have time to do it.
Heck, I still see folk driving round with their mobile phones clamped to their ears....illegal, but not enforced greatly.

Poepel drinking in supposedly 'Alcohol Free' zones, with no enforcement...Ok, it is a little better in front of the market hall now there is nowhere for them to sit.
People dropping litte quite blatantly.......supposed to carry a hefty fine......do we see a list of people up before the beak because of this...No, of course we don't...why....? No-one to enforce it.

More Nanny state stuff......treating us like we are five.
Why don't they get down and sort out the real threat to this country...and the world.
I won't say what it is but it is two letters...both of them, vowels.

The 'experiment' has been a roaring success then.

No benches = no chance a drinker may ever sit on one.

Remove 'em all!

Problem sorted.

Re: open a window

another stupid "Sledgehammer to crack a Walnut" idea, what about the person who lives alone, a solitary kind of person? they would not be allowed to smoke in own car, as well as being unenforceable its a ruddy daft idea. if evidence is available about the danger to others, then education is the answer not this stupidity, that won't work 100% nowt will, i notice daily though what a big effect the law on using mobiles when driving has made.

Re: open a window

i dont smoke any more but if i did i wouldnt worry too much. Its not as though they enforce the mobile phone laws or booster seat laws is it .Neither do they enforce many of teh traffic laws thinking about it.

The only thing a motorist gets nicked by these days is a gloryfied polaroid camera .

Hey but as long as teh streets of other countries are safe courtesy of our governments who can complain about teh lack of law enforcement in our own country .

Re: open a window

Enjoy doing whatever in your cars, whilst you can.

There'll soon be orders issued from Berlin, that you're to scrap 'em, and buy some nice left-hand drive German ones instead.

Ready for when we're made to fall in line with the rest of Europe, and are forced to drive on the right.

if only there was some way of stopping this .There needs to be a system in place where the public get a say in the matter if you ask me

Well to be honest there should be no need for any new legislation, any parents who smoke in their car when kids are in are totally irresponsible as far as I'm concerned

Did you notice?
Is appointed by the government, NOT, voted in by the electorate.

Plus, in all the announcements on radio and television, the chief medical officer wasn't mentioned, they kept it nice and blurred by saying, Doctors, (To give the impression that all our Doctors had met for an evening out and agreed this is what should be done).
