I'm so glad I don't need to ask directions to here.

Re: Oswaldtwistle = Narnia!

ok ive got one for you - Keady

Now even the locals say it in different ways. I've always said Kaydy which my mum and dad, relatives and some of the locals say it - others say it Keeday, others call it keday.
There is always the argument over Enniskillen - is it said Enniskillen or is it Inniskillen.

Can remember when we went to glasgow to the world pipe band contest and we were asking directions to the park where it was being held everyone looked at us blankly never heard of it they said. Dad said you must have heard of it - its where the band contest is - they said aaaaaaahhhhh you mean Ballahouston Park - we were saying it as its spelt - Bellahouston Park!! Its now held on Glasgow Green.

For some reason my daughter finds Goosnargh hilarious.

Stranocher has the same effect on me but mainly because of a woman who was once giving us directions to somewhere and continued to emphasise that we needed to go through Stranocher.

Another Yorkshire one I like - Mankinholes - and when I lived in Durham City I wasn't far from Pity Me and Hetton le Hole.

Re: Oswaldtwistle = Narnia!

When I was living in Saskatchewan some jokester placed a sign by the highway which read "Armpit, Pop. 0". It seems that the guy had found the midway point between the town of Eyebrow and the town of Elbow and placed the funny sign there.
