It was a lovely sunny day , and she took us across the road , down a path where we came to this lodge . I can remember people diving from a high rocky ledge into the water .
It was great fun to watch .

The one I recall in that area was quite big, like a gravel pit, was there a bank that split it into two areas? It was very flat open with fields round it. There were mute swans there when I went there. Looked dangerous I never swam in it.
Every summer we used to swim in the lodges on the coppice the main ones were the top 2, lots of people used to go there, they were quite small so no risk of drowning.
Also I recall one summer on a really hot day a whole gang of people all went over to the reservoir at the bottom of Hambledon Hill and were sunbathing round it and a lot swam, that was dangerous.
