Re: papal knighthood for former MP
An award so richly deserved, but sadly to late for him to acknowledge it, as Gremlin has said Ken is seriously ill in the hospice.

Re: papal knighthood for former MP
I am saddened to hear this. I have a lot of respect for him. Not the typical sort who would become an MP.- not self-seeking enough. We started working for the NCB on the same day - our first job after leaving school. He always had time for a word with me.He deserves honour for his work with the Blind Society

Think your spot on there Bob, Ken was only interested in representing the people at Westminster, unlike others. He his probably the most selfless person I've ever know, continually putting others needs before his own, I have never heard of him turning any organisation or individual away, who needed help, a Giant amongst Men

Re: papal knighthood for former MP
Top bloke. He deserves all the accolades he gets. One of the few politicians who put the interests of his constituents before his political ambitions. He went the extra mile to help me when I was sorting out my missus's residency in the UK after we got married...and he's a Stanley fan!
Very sorry to hear that he's unwell.

Re: papal knighthood for former MP
The politicians of today could learn something from this gentleman...he is a true gentleman, and the honour is richly deserved.
I am sure that he is being well cared for in the hospice.

He was very involved with Stanley in John Alty's Time, I remember attending with Ken, the launch of the sponsorship with Hollands Pies in the early 90s

Re: papal knighthood for former MP
Voted for him..even though it helped put she who will not be named in power, and don't regret it for one minute, he voted on behalf of constituents not for party or personal beliefs, didn't care about being on Question Time or the front bench (are you watching Mr. Jones)... a man of the people, (strange for a Conservative), far more deserving of an accolade to the House of Lords than two jags, Uddin or Warsi..shows our system is flawed...Gremlin, please add best wishes from a dyed in the wool socialist

Hear! Hear!
I second those sentiments.
If only we had more men like him in the Palace of Westminster right now...maybe Great Britain would be a different place....a better place.
