Men make wars.....women get sucked in to pick up the pieces.
You cannot grasp peace with a lunched fist.

Re: Paris Shootings.
my own thoughts are anything that segregates peoples of this planet causes conflicts, it seems inconceivable that a group of people (ISIS) can be that intolerant of others that they believe anyone who does not share their distorted view should be exterminated, unbelievable yes but its happening

Re: Paris Shootings.
And they are distorting the views of impressionable young people and making them believe that it is their duty to their God to wage war against non believers.
Their war is not a conventional war where they follow rules of engagement and observe the rules of the Geneva convention.
Their war is one which means they infiltrate communities, get to know communities, gain the trust of communities and then annihilate them.
It makes people suspicious of every Muslim, every person wearing the niqab, the jilbab is a worry.....we become concerned that because they are hiding their faces they are a potential threat to us, to those we love and this should not be so.

Predictive text has a lot to answer for.
That last sentence should read 'You cannot grasp peace with a clenched fist'.

They should be shouting from the rooftops 'Not in My name.....this is not the Islam that I follow'.....that they say nothing means that we have to make our own conclusions. that these conclusions MIGHT be wrong needs to be addressed and thus far it has not been.

Some of the shops on Blackburn Rd have posters in the windows More or less saying, "not in my name". So some Muslims are speaking out.
Got to admit though most of the other shops have posters that I can't read because they aren't in English who knows what they are saying perhaps they should be made to provide an English version just as the council have to provide forms in a variety of languages!

I can't remember the last time I rode along Blackburn Road...so I haven't seen them, however it is good to hear that some Muslims are making their feelings known.
It does the cause of Islam no favours when there is a stunning silence...although it has been reported in the newspapers today that the Muslim Council of Britain has taken out some full page adverts to denounce these acts........it is just a little bit late don't you think?
Yes, I think you are right about the signs that are not in English...they could be saying 'Death to the infidels' for all we know.

Even if they are harmless posters used for advertising (which they probably are), surely there should be an English version so that we can take advantage of what is on offer if we should want to?

Once paranoia sets in(and I think it is pretty close) it is possible to see malice in the most innocuous things.

I was concerned about the "lunched fist" until you advised it was due to predictive text.

The Not In My Name campaign is also on Social Media worldwide. Many Muslims have condemned Isis and the attacks in Paris.

This isn't the first time they have denounced Isis. See the attached from August 2014.

I do not partake of social media....mainly because it is more media than social.......so I have not seen it.
I do remember the Muslim council of Britain taking out the advert in 2014, but again I feel it was a late denouncement......and when this happens it makes me wonder if it is from the heart.....whether it was truly meant or whether it was done for other motives....but that is just me with my cynical head on.

Margaret, I fully understand the cynicism and having lived in a Muslim country for almost 20 years I have also witnessed their hypocrisy.
As for Christian Terrorists - the ones that we don't hear of are no different than the various mafia, Cosa Nostra, big city gangs, biker gangs, Red Army Faction, football hooligans, EDL, NF and many more that we only hear about if they cause an incident in UK or a major incident overseas.

Re: Paris Shootings.
How can anyone take Western outrage against extreme medieval-minded Islam seriously as long as we consider Saudi Arabia an ally. Oh, and at the same time condemn the Israelis for reacting to terror as we would just love to do. And, by the way, has anyone noticed that the media seems to have forgotten the recently bombed Russian airliner? Of course, the Russians aren't warm and fuzzy folks. Is anyone else getting tired of the outpourings of bathetic bs from our Fearless Leaders and plastic A-list celebs?
Whatever. Good luck to the French as they hit back Vive la France ... Formez vos bataillions. Marchons, marchons.
