Re: Paris Shootings.
These jihadist assholes have been gifted with the name "terrorist"; but whom are they terrifying? Probably only those who watch too much CNN and Fox "News" ... the chances of being hurt or killed in a terrorist attack are close to nil. I think that I have more chance of winning the ten million bucks in the 649 lottery tonite than I have of running into a suicide bomber with an AK. The message from the authorities should go something like: "Just go about your normal lives and let the police and armed forces deal with the problem." Maybe it's time we all stood up and said "[deleted** you mohamed and the camel you rode in on." No more tearful vigils and hugs. Maybe some innocent Muslims will suffer ... tough shiite ... but all they need to do is join the rest of us in unequivocal condemnation of this perverted version of their religion.
By the by, actually had some idiot in my local try to convince me that the terrorists are just like Japanese kamakazies . Somehow he couldn't see that there is a difference between shooting up a bunch of young folks in a nightclub, and flying into the gunfire of an Iowa Class battleship.

Re: Paris Shootings.
Eric, I think authorities are telling people to go about their daily lives as normal.....but with the proviso that they are on their guard.......I think most people also are of the opinion that not to go about their normal daily life would be to let these murderers win.
I think that the wall to wall media coverage of events has been the sort of publicity that ISIS craves.....the oxygen of publicity is what these groups thrive on.
I think it should be reported and then left alone......not examined in forensic detail.....especially when much of what is being reported is conjecture.

I imagine that each time the sickening attacks occur in whichever Country, the normal Islamic folk have adapted as home,
they surely feel more threatened than the rest of the population, after all it's so easy to blame the innocent for the deeds of the insanely guilty.
If this wasn't true I would have to live in fear in an area that is mainly Muslim, as it is my neighbour's have never seemed anything except neighbours, they struggle along making as good a life as they can, just as I do.

Not sure, I know I'm carrying on, maybe my neighbours are more reluctant to go out in case they get blamed unjustly for the rest of the world?
Any time you wish to do a survey and find out, feel free, just duck if while you're about you hear an automatic weapon going off.

Never thought I would be taking Scouse language lessons at my age, but appreciate your efforts to educate me - by the way, when is the next lesson on overcoming those security wheel nuts?

It's getting kind of embarrassing and humiliating to watch whole cities shut down because there maybe a terrorist ... maybe even four or five of them ... on the loose. Let's put this is perspective: these delusional, medieval fanatics are not strong. They are not terrifying. They feed on the media hype. Roosevelt was right when he observed in his first inaugural address ... well you all should know the part I'm talking about. The incumbent in the White House is asking for help in confronting ISIS What Ten Nimitz class aircraft carriers plus all the rest of the US military capability ain't enough If that is the case we are in deep shiite.
Maybe the media have a vested interest in ISIS ... they help sell papers and advertising. Pity we can't resurrect "Bomber" Harris and "Hap" Arnold to take control of the air war. Hunt down the terrorists, screw collateral damage, and soon we will see that ISIS is no more of a real threat than the Wizard of Oz. And don't let them stop the humanitarian effort to help the refugees. Much of the help over here is coming from church groups ... that would be Christians. It would be nice to see a few mosques getting together to sponsor refugees.
No more tears ... no more hugfests ... no more tacky floral tributes and teddy bears ... kill the sonsabitches. Hunt them down as the Israelis would do and as the Russians are no doubt planning to do. No quarter asked or given.

Your story missed out the part were we all live happily ever after once ISIS,along with innocent victims (or collateral damage as you call them),have been eliminated.
If ISIS was created by let's say the West who's to say they won't just create another fighting group once ISIS have gone? It's the one's pulling the strings that need hunting down.
ISIS are a US created fighting unit 'portraying' to work in the name of Islam as part of a western agenda to **** up the Middle East.
Like I've already mentioned supporting the call for mass murder is a view I can't concur with....we must be better than them not stoop to their level.

Re: Paris Shootings.
So you would have been in Chamberlains camp then.
for evil to prosper all it takes is that good men stand by and do nothing.
You obviously have not read the article that DinG posted a link to, or you would realise that your simplistic ideas about who caused what in the Middle East are just that...simplistic ideas worthy of a twelve year old.
You do not agree with mass murder you tell us, but you perhaps would like to tell us where you stand on the capture, rape and selling into slavery yahzidi women and girls, you can countenance the murder of innocents going about their daily life in Paris. You think it is fine and dandy for there barbarians to have regular beheadings, amputation of limbs as a punishment, to have sharia law policed in a way that means human freedoms are denied.
You think that this is not a form of fascism?
I asked you quite a while ago what your solution would be.....I am still waiting for an answer.
Do you really think that ISIS is open to diplomatic negotiation?
Defeating these murderers will not be an easy task, but if you think that Russia is going to stand by while it has a passenger jet shot from the sky.....then you are nuts.
The will is there to track down the supply of resources and cut them off.
This is not about religion, never has been....it is about men having power over others and imposing their will on others.......and if you want to exist in such a world, I don't.
I do not advocate violence, but I can see no other way of defeating those who would kill us without a glimmer of conscience.

I didn't miss out the "happily ever after bit" ... probably 'cause this ain't a fairy tale. And I wasn't aware of any agenda And it isn't a question of being "better". This isn't a popularity contest; and Ms Congeniality is not a prize we want to win. And however down and dirty the West gets ... and you seem to like agendas ... we are only playing by the rules they establish. (As an aside, I wonder how deeply concerned the Russians are about collateral damage.)
A good read for those who are interested in reading about how not to respond to a mickey mouse threat from an as yet weak and inconsequential threat, can be found in Shirer's "The Collapse of the Third French Republic: An Inquiry into the Fall of France in 1940." On May 7, 1936, when the Germans re-occupied the Rhineland, General Gamelin protested that the only way the French could respond was by a general mobilization. Fear of a weak enemy. That's exactly what ISIS is: a weak enemy whose only strength is our fear, our timidity, our unwillingness to take decisive action.
And what is this "portraying" thing. "Purporting", maybe?

Re: Paris Shootings.
Eric, your suggested reading will not be much good to Jason......he only reads The Beano.
And he isn't fond of long words either.

Re: Paris Shootings.
I know the 'solution' isn't simple but cutting off their supplies would be a good starting point.
Somebody is shipping in supplies and funding them...If Turkey stopped buying their oil and Saudi and Kuwait stopped funding too that would be a good kick in the teeth but it won't happen.
The western world is no better it's just as much to blame....those pulling the strings are just as much a terrorist as those 'purporting' (thanks E) to blow themselves up in the name of Islam.....
....Please except my apologises of my post isn't sophisticated enough for you.
