Parks - what a mess

I took a walk through Gatty, Milnshaw and Oak Hill Parks at the weekend. What a sad and depressing mess! Oak Hill is bad enough with derelict areas and broken path surfaces, but Milnshaw Park is a wasteland. This is a disgrace. It looks as though hardly a penny has been spent on it since the parks dept was broken up in the early seventies. What are the council up to? Are they hoping that it will get to such a state that the only remedy is to sell it off for development? in the same way that they are encroaching on the land to the west of it which used to be known as 'owd bob's' And while I am at it, which halfwit designed the mess that is now in the place of the rhododendrons at the Haworth? Pretty it isnt.

Funny isn't it, they could find £30,000 to fund their pursuit of the Britain in Bloom trophy. And many hundreds of thousands of pounds to fund pointless feasability studies into ridiculous and ill thought through schemes. But cannot find enough cash to fund day to day maintenance. Is it me, am I missing something, or is there something wrong here?

If you think that Milnshaw park is a mess now then you should have seen it a few months ago Bob. It is 100% better now because they have cut back all the overgrown bushes and really gone to town on cleaning it up.Mainly that is to stop the pervert's who like to hide behind the bushes, then see fit to expose themselves, at least we can see who is hanging about now.
