Re: Passport making me example ?
Just an update on this in Mel's absence and with her being offline at the moment.
The good news is that various communications have taken place between Greg's office, Hynburn Homes and the passport office and Mel should see her passport soon. Well done to Greg for picking up on it and an extra well done to Julie his office for the work done and even more the communication.
The bad news for Mel is she doesn't yet know I have only bought her a one way ticket abroad

Re: Passport making me example ?
Another thing about passports - why do you have to have 6months still valid on them to travel to most countries? We were just about to book a last minute holiday to get away for a week in the summer holidays and then realised that the kids passports both expire in Jan 08. This, of course, means less that 6 months to go on them.
If you have to have 6 months left on your passport why do you have to buy a 10 year one, why not a nine and half year one?

It's a confusing issue because from what I have read in the past it seems to be the country you are visiting that determines the expiry period, but I agree it's very annoying.

It's mainly because you are allowed to stay in countries that don't require visas for up to 6 months. (At least that's what I got told.)

You get any time left on your old passport added to your new one so if you have 6 months left then your new one will be for 10 years and 6 months!!
And yes as Stanaccy has said it all depends on the countries allowance for anyone to stay without a visa
