PC's not PC enough!
The word on the street is that a proposed soccer tournement between local youths and members of the Police has been cancelled, apparently rules of the Y. S. forbid adults and youngsters being involved in contact sports.
I don't believe it!

Re: PC's not PC enough!
Flippin heck. As kids at secondary school, we used to play the teachers at footy, I suppose that has been done away with too. I used to play for Old Accringtonians at footy on Saturday afternoons from about the age 14 to 16. Most of the teams we played were adults as were most of our team, has that sort of thing been banished too??

I stand corrected, thought it was sports like boxing/wrestling that were classed as contact sports

Re: PC's not PC enough!
I might have to start taking drugs as the world they live in must be better and make more sense than this in which I live. If E.T was ever daft enough in Britain the impression would be we are away with the fairies. The police are not scared of loosing the game just the pasting that they would get physically.

Re: PC's not PC enough!
This PC nonsense, or whatever it is, is getting to the point of being totally ridiculous. Presumably this is so none of the children can accuse any of the adults of having touched them inappropriately.

Re: PC's not PC enough!
This sort of nonsense is really beginning to worry me. It's not just in sport, it's getting out of hand everywhere. Teachers can't comfort a sick or distressed child with an arm round the shoulder, nor can Youth Leaders. My daughter, Nik, broke all the rules, recently, when a brand new Brownie was howling and sobbing at her first meeting. Nik (mother of an 8 year old) gave the child a cuddle, to calm her down, and, thank goodness, the mother was grateful and not complaining. She shouldn't have done it, though, it's "not allowed".
What worries me is how much further all this is going. We've already had a case of "indecency" when a mother photographed her daughter in the bath, now adults and children can't play football together as they might have bodily contact. What next?

Re: PC's not PC enough!
Let me tell you what I think is an absolutely ludicrous situation.
Small toddler in nursery Sunday School class needs a wee-wee. The teacher can take him/her to the loo but must remain outside WITH THE DOOR OPEN. Which means that anyone and everyone can see the child on the loo. The child must not be in loo alone with door closed in case of accidents and teacher must not be in there with child with door closed in case of hanky-panky.
So it is more acceptable for the child to be on view to all and sundry? That just seems so wrong to me.

Absolutely ridiculous Willow, isn't it? It just beggars belief. I am told that it is also the case at our church that when the children are getting changed for the nativity play that a parent has to be present whilst they do so. Thank God for leaders, helpers and teachers everywhere that continue to put on plays and go on outings and, although it makes their lives very hard work, refuse to let all this outrageous red tape stop them from organising things which give the children so much enjoyment and is beneficial to their education.

Re: PC's not PC enough!
I'll second that Lilly. It must be horrendous these days trying not to fall foul of some petty regulation or other.
