peel house surgery is pathetic
peel house surgery is pathetic or pals as i think its called now
they have moved to a big new building , total refurbishment and still cant manage to open 5 days a week
i have just recieved a phonecall which requires me to go into my doctors and get some documents that need to be sent out asap but due to the surgery been closed today i will not only have to wait until tomorrow to ask for it but will also have to wait 3 working days until i can go in and get it making it monday possibly tuesday before i get what i need
not only this but the surgery is still closed most of friday afternoon for staff training , how much training do the staff need they have been closing for staff training on friday for what seems years and probably is years so either their systems change weekly or the staff arnt all that bright at picking things up
also for such a large practice is there realy any need to close at dinner for 1 hour ? , many other buisnesses manage to do split dinner shifts so i dont see why a doctors surgery cant
is it just my doctors surgery that spends most of the time closed or is every other surgery in accrington the same because i realy do think its time to move doctors , preferably to one thats open
ok rant over

whoever is in charge needs a kick up the bum or sacking, i have no idea why they scrapped been able to ring in for prescriptions there are loads of people now that have to take bus trips every week to get their precscription ordered
perhaps the staff training on fridays is teaching them how to actualy pick up a phone and not leave it on hold for 20 mins

Re: peel house surgery is pathetic
The prescription ordering can be solved if it's a repeat prescription by getting Boots to do it for you. They do ours and all I do is call in at the chemist every 4 weeks to pick the stuff up. Brilliant.
As for the rest of it - no different to when it was in Avenue Parade. Different location that's all but same system which seems to be geared up to anything but actually treating patients.

Must agree, Peel House, no matter where it is, is a poor excuse for a health centre, different building, same shambolic organisation.........

Re: peel house surgery is pathetic
Belies the statement big is best don't it, My doctor is a one man band, can fax my repeat prescriptions through, and they send them to the local chemist who deliver. No appointments just turn up, and if you need a house call he comes the same morning if you ring before 10am, has been my doc for 22 years and wouldn't swap him for anything

Re: peel house surgery is pathetic
Drs Dixon and Manuel at Myrtle House decided not to move to the new centre.
Glad about it .... I have no complaints about their service to their patients
just wish that everything wrong with me wasn't labelled 'old age'

Re: peel house surgery is pathetic
We have a free prescription collection service at Boots and we pick up from all the surgeries in Accrington , we also do postal service for some surgeries further away.
It's really easy as Willow said, you leave us your repeat slips, we order from the Docs and your meds are waiting for you the following month instore. If there are any extra or alterations you can ring us and we sort it out.
I was instore when Willow last collected and I know she is thrilled with the service !

I couldn't agree more Margaret ( about the doctors, not old age ) .... I must admit, I would prefer to see Dr Dixon than manuel, manuel always seems very pee'd off to me, where as Dr.Dixon is always coming out with his one liners that instantly make you feel better. I like the older Dr Dixon that stands in there too, he is a lovely chappy.

Hahahaha ..... You should have taken a picture of him laughing, Some would pay good money to see that
Same when they used to come to visit where I worked, never got a smile of Manuel, but Dixon..... god that fells is a clown. When he buzzed the door to be let in, we used to answer and say " hello, who is it ?? " and he always came out with something funny, usually whoever was in the headlines that week...... Tony Blair Etc. .... the best one was when he said " Harold Shipman " Good job we know and love him

Re: peel house surgery is pathetic
Could not agree more, last time I was home, I found out that it is advisable to get the Yellow Fever Jab, this costs £32.00 as the NHS don't pay it.
Seeing I fly into the Congo, Cameroon etc, I thought better get it.
So called them up and a very snotty receptionist informed me that I would have to wait two weeks, I am paying for this dammed thing. When I explained my problem, going back to Morocco in a few days, she told me that it was no use getting it done as it ould not protect me. At no time did she ask what my travel plans were.
Rang a surgery in Whalley, no problem, very nice, helpful and glad to take some money off me. I am so glad my doctor did not move there.
