Peel Street area - Pennine Square

Again, thanks to Less, for telling us about this document to look at :
http://www.hyndburnbc.gov.uk/downloa...L_DOCUMENT.pdf
Look at page 44 points 7.32/7.33 and then, surprise, surprise, take a look at page 45 and let your eyes linger on the photo. Now this is all new to me. Never heard a whisper about this planned square!

How much did that load of paper cost the ratepayers, for another pipe dream, where the Ell are they going to put that lot in Peel St, theres not much to indicate in what direction you are looking East or West.
It will never happen in your life time, they produce these thing on 10 year cycles, but very little happens.

Looks to me as if you are standing at the corner of Peel St/Blackburn Rd, looking up Peel St towards Infant St. The bigger building at the side of the smaller ones is the church.

Re: Peel Street area - Pennine Square

Oh dear, how many times have we discussed this plus the planned bus station ... so not starting again.

Thing that really has annoyed me is that our esteemed leader suggests (once the bus station has been removed to Crawshaw Street .. hopefully) .. that we turn this area into a car park !!!!!!

Car park plan for Accrington bus station (From Lancashire Telegraph)

My belief is that in trying to attract businesses to our town, we have to make our town attractive initially ... a blooming carbon emissions car park next to the market is not going to endear people to linger ... what a muddle that will be ... besides will probably soon fill up with the town workers. Grrrr.

You mean like all the other car parks we can't park on all day

So basically a very expensive study has been done and our esteemed council leader has said he doesn't like it so it won't happen ?

Lots of places you can park in Accy free of charge .. even the Arndale, top two floors until 18.00 hours. Just short walks for you. Leave the ones near to the town centre for the shoppers.

No idea Dave, doubt whether will be his decision .. it was just a suggestion that he made .. hopefully, will be thrown out.

Will cost more money to bring this 'crack' idea to fruition... access routes, flow of traffic, etc. Anyway, you know my opinion on the Pennine Square .. think it is a great idea. Sometimes think Cllr. Britcliffe suffers from some sort of megalomania.
