I've asked myself that question about why don't they roof it - no idea. I believe four eggs hatched and two chicks succumbed to the bad weather, then the smaller of the two survivors didn't make it also, but I don't know why.

I was watching during the downpours, and the brooding mum was absolutely drenched, it's a wonder she didn't succumb too.

May seem sad but best not to interfere too much with nature - i think it would have to be an exceptional thing, completely in the wild, for a whole brood of 4 to survive...

It really depends on the building. I have a Peregrines near me and the building is really good and has ledges all the way down. For 2 years they had 4 then 3 and all flew. The young stay on the building till they have flexed their wings so much they feel ready to fly, the males which are smaller usually go first. If they go down to the ground first flight they will probably not survive as the adults don't go looking for them. Many buildings have human teams who watch the birds round fledging time and rescue grounded chicks. They usually circle back slightly lower and land on a lower ledge and then build up their strength for a 2nd attempt, it takes them a few days before they are confident in flight but take months to master flying/hunting properly.

However if a nest tray provided by people is getting flooded out it is in the wrong place and should be re-positioned.

This morning at Italian site - 11:10am all 4 were in view of camera - 2 on nest and 2 along the ledge, so looks like none have tried to fly yet.

I have been watching the Italian site and they have kept me quite amused with there little tantrums!
Managed to catch them feeding yesterday that were nice to watch

I've just had a look and all four are still there for now -bit difficult to translate the forum for you KestrelX-would be like trying to translate Accyweb!
However, if you go on Forums and choose Aria e Vento (the first one in the list) and look at the photo album, the last posts show the latest stills so you can get an idea of the situation. Most peoples comments are just about how great they are to see!

Also In forums if you scroll down to Webcams around the world, there are loads of others you can watch around the world, not just peregrin falcons either.
In the Aria e Vento forum there is the possiblity to start a forum in English -you could always try to give it a go -a lot of italians would probably appreciate the possibilty of trying their English out!

Yeh cheers except it doesn't convert all the threads to English only the intro page!

I want to know if they all get airbourne, I think one is not going back to the nest at night. When they start flying they stick together as a group and fly round hunting in a group passing things they catch around, that is how they learn to hunt. The young make a lot of noise still.
