Re: pertrol
It was quoted as £1.50/litre by september.
Which given that makes it nearly £7 a gallon and the increase in road tax of £90pa (or more) for a lot of people means that this goverment is clearly into dreamland if they think people will put up with it much longer.
Cyfr must be rubbing his hands in glee at teh way Gordon is signing teh death warrant for the next elections

Re: pertrol
its a pity the waggon drivers cant block off the refineries like they did last time and embarress gordon brown like they did tony blair but sadly tony blair didnt like getting beaten by the little people and basicly made it an act of terrorism to try doing it again
thats why the waggon drivers arnt doing it again and thats why labour have got away with raising the price so much
the govenment blames the refineries for the raise which is utter crap , what is to blame is the average 90% of what we pay for fuel been tax
nothing would change regarding fuel prices under conservitave either simply because its an easy cash raiser just like smoking and beer
if we spent less money sticking our noses in to other countries problems perhaps there would be a little more to go around the UK

Thought it was 80% but even so it only leaves 20p in the pound to be shared between the attendant-owner-tanker driver -haulage firm -refiner-council -and utilities.Don't know how they do it so cheaply

Most of the price of fuel is tax. They get away with it along with all the other tax hikes, because Gordon is scared of calling an election and giving us a say.

Re: pertrol
Sure gasoline tax is a cash cow for governments, but that doesn't explain the massive increase in profits of the major oil companies. Keep an eye out for the quarterly statements of the oil companies and I guarantee you will see a very large increase. Taxes are exhorbitant, but at least they fund govt. (altho some might say that govts. are not worth funding). Gas in Kingston today is about $1.15 a litre, which is bad enough; but diesel is up around $1.30 .... when you realize that much of the stuff we buy is transported by heavy trucks, you know that the price of a lot of stuff is in for an increase.

Re: pertrol
Complete rip off WHY is there between 12 and 14 pence a litre difference between the cost of a litre of diesel and petrol it only used to be 4 pence a litre six months ago.
Every time the cost of oil starts to drop we get some ludicrous statement from somebody either Opec an investment banker or one of the oil companies and the cost goes up again, these people who produce the oil are making an absolute fortune and have got used to their big profits so I am afraid we will never see cheap fuel again unless we start some major disruptive protests.
BY THE WAY!!
IN BURNLEY THEIR IS A COMPANY DEXTERS PAINTS THAT PRODUCES BIO DIESEL FOR ANYONE TO USE IT IS £1.08 PER LITRE AND IF YOU HAVE THE STORAGE FACILITY THEY WILL DELIVER 1000 LITRE CONTAINER FOR 88 PENCE PER LITRE I RUN MY CAR ON BIO DIESEL AND IT RUNS GREAT!!
