Re: Plane crash in Madrid
Well slezy drive Scarebus and my own 737's good old boeing!.
God with all those souls on board.
Sky news are now saying that the Left (Number 1) engine was on fire before Take Off. There is a point on the take off roll where you must continue as you cannot stop on the remaining runway.
Be interested to read the report

Madrid Air Crash
I must express my admiration to the emergency teams in Spain.
I must also express my sympathy to the relatives of all the casualties.
What a terrible tragedy....well over 100 lost their lives.
40 Ambulances were quickly on the scene and four field hospitals were created in double quick time.

Re: Madrid Air Crash
The Emergency services were definitely on the ball Roy, at least from what I have seen. Tragic event.
The fact that there were survivors is amazing, I imagine the plane was laden with fuel.
Yolanda started a thread about it mid afternoon - http://www.accringtonweb.com/forum/f...rid-41993.html

Re: Plane crash in Madrid
Why don't they make runways twice or even three times as long, so if there is a problem , there is room to land?

Cant do that....needs planning permission and the ones who object in the main, are the one's who have recently bought a property near the airport.

Re: Plane crash in Madrid
Can't help thinking about their relatives in Gran Canaria, looking forward to seeing their loved ones, and to be took aside and told about this tragedy .. doesn't bear thinking about.
Only consolation we all have is that is doesn't happen so often pro-rata.

Thanks for taking the trouble to respond Kate....Seems low priority for the majority?

Re: Plane crash in Madrid
God bless to all those affected by this terrible tragedy...the dead, the survivors, the relatives, the crew, staff of the airline and airport...the pain is so far reaching.

I don't think low priority Royboy, when a tragedy such as this happens, our imagination runs amok and we all conceive being that relative at the receiving airport, and shed a tear in that image.
Do we know if any survivors as yet ?
