As for myself, it was only last week that I posted the modus operandi I've always followed on here, and which I tend to follow in life too, and which has always stood me in good stead.
Though being kind, to those who struggle reading what's already been said, I'll repeat it.
Nice people, are treated ever so nicely, and with respect.
Conversely, if someone on here, in my opinion, is unnecessarily nasty, pompous, rude, patronising, or whatever, to anyone, then they'll get a taste of their own medicine...with an added dose of poison thrown in for good measure. Sometimes fatally so.
If anyone feels I've ever been rude to them, that's because I've first seen similar rudeness exhibited by them.
This is how I've operated, and will carry on, because there's always a few who haven't quite grasped this.
Or even realised just how good I am at doling out the prescripted doses.
So instead of clutching at straws, making weak claims that the drugs I take for Parkinson's have somehow changed me, take a look back through some of my old posts.
You'll clearly see there's been absolutely no change.
Nor will there be.

Kind of interesting view. But myself I don't think that view fits. I suppose that depends on the kind of person you are.
Take me for example. I couldn't(more than wouldn't) walk up to a group of strangers in a pub. Seriously that is something I simply cannot do. That kind of thing comes naturally for some.
But. It is dead simple for me to join a forum and introduce myself. In a pub there isn't a board where you can print a note and pin it up saying "Hi my name is Restless. I like Computers, Technology and I am a pretentious singer-songwriter wannabee. Pleased to meet you"

It was only a scenario, I don't drink so rarely go in a pub
Nah. It almost makes sense here. Not for all forums. But here. Here some of the 'Clique' for want of a better term know each other personally or "in the pub" so to speak. So for newbies here to face them. It is a little like going into the pub as you say.

Yeh but point here is simple, most that now know one another didn't before accyweb fact, Most of us got to know each other by turning up at accyweb meets n meeting folk who had very different points of view on certain subjects, We were all newbies at some point, but no-ones ever come to blows in fact most have become good mates who still disagree on certain issues n always will, Its mainly namby pambys, moaners, n tarts that don't mix in my view, one day perhaps the penny will drop n they may just get a life.

That's true.
We're all different, and the world's a better place for it.
Pesonally I've always felt I have the right to speak out and say something, if I believed it to be right, and felt it needed to be said.
Plus, I've never been shy, though I do always assess an environment, before deciding how best to broach it, so as to have my say...and ensure that it's heard.
I received my first death threat aged fifteen, for publicly attacking a sorry arse little man, who was actively involved with fascism, and stood in local General Elections here, and in Blackburn for the National Front.
He didn't get the better of me, because I believed what he spouted was wrong. So a few moaning minnies on here, who are equally wrong in my opinion, have no chance.
Yes, we are all different.
I have my elephant skin, a perky trunk, and a very long memory.
Others don't.
In the great scheme of things there's no definitive right, or wrong.
Just differences, which are equally right, to those that believe they are.

OK go back to the first post..Burnley and such webs did not survive because they did not have enough members ..the reason Accy Web has grown is because of members signing up on a regular basis..that means new members ..it makes me laugh when older members welcome newbies in the introduction thread and then slam em on their first posts..

I didn't know a soul, when I first joined here.
I posted loads...there's a suprise, on that first winter's night, and probably a lot of what I said was disagreed with.
Some said as much.
I answered their counterview, and so on, and so on.
It's what tends to happen on a successful internet forum.
As Less posted, it works.
If new members realise that, all is well, if they don't, being a gent, I'll hold the door open whilst they leave.
No one's forced to post, or read this waffle with a gun held to their head.
Are they?

Check it out properly, no-one gets slammed in my view that didn't earn it, I welcome everyone if i'm not away when they join, But 90% of the time, those that take the trouble to introduce aint clever beggers.
