Policeman tampers with evidence
BBC News - Policeman tampered with Stephen Lawrence evidence
Met detective Paul Steed, 49, tampered with key times and dates on an evidence log, it was confirmed.
He was demoted and fined. Surely if he's been tampering with evidence he should have been sacked.

I was just going to add that he should be jailed for perverting the course of justice, but you got there before me Cashy.
It makes you doubt the integrity of justice when things like this are reported.

Re: Policeman tampers with evidence
I thought that the Independent Police Complaints Commission was supposed to be 'independent'.
The police force should always be above suspicion, but with the likes of Ali Dizae(who thankfully has now been sacked...not a minute before time, and is hopefully going to be stripped of much of his pension) this guy and others recently it appears not to be as independent as it should be.

Re: Policeman tampers with evidence
I thought that the title indicated it was an Independent commission which investigated complaints lodged agains the police...but it maybe I have got the wrong end of the stick.

Unfortunately the Police like the rest of us are Human, no matter which group of people, Priests, Engineers, Soldiers, Police, etc.
Each of whom have a common view on how things effect life, theirs and others, perhaps this Policeman took his loyalties too far?
Of course in a perfect World this wouldn't happen, He has been lucky, he got off lightly, but then, perhaps because of his natural prejudice? Towards Law and Order he can be forgiven, so long as he and his fellow Officers can take this on board and realise that just because you have your God on your side that doesn't give you the right to alter the truth of Justice.
I can still see me being stopped for speeding and being treated as a child from Infant School rather than the Adult they should be treating me.
Perhaps that's because I'm prejudiced against these smart aced barstuards?
