Pop Years

Duran Duran, Japan, Bananarama, Haircut 100, Human League, ABC,Scritti Politti - I could go on.

1982 - my top pop year. I was 18, borderline New Romantic/Goth and so into music.

When was your year?

Re: Pop Years

I would say my year was the early to mid 70’s.
Mud, sweet, suzi quarto, status quo etc.

But I wasn't very good at doing the rubber legs.

Re: Pop Years

My main music years were 70 to 74, T Rex, The Doors, Eagles, Leo Sayer, Carpenters, Suzi Quatro. I was listening to Galaxy with a bunch of schoolkids at work this afternoon and the music of today just doesn't hit the spot somehow. Could I have been experiencing a senior moment?.

Re: Pop Years

Just been watching that to Gayle it was very good

Hmm my year? Though I really like the 80's and aquired the nickname 'lil Miss 80's' from friends because of my liking for it, I would say mine was '93 .... I think. I was young, single, carefree and the music out at the time was music to dance to. I only need to hear Real McCoy and it puts me back in the Lar De's.

Thanx Gayle I'm feeling all nostalgic now lol! Better go and root my old casettes out

2005 - The year i left school and 'the' festival year.
Ashcroft performing Bitter Sweet Symphony at Live8 after a 2 year hiatus; Pink Floyd reforming and The Who - all on the same stage!
Also saw Oasis at City Of Manchester Stadium in late July - best gig ever

16 years old and ever so slightly anarchaic, the best summer of my life was backed up by the perfect soundtrack

1978-
Massively in love with Debbie Harry of Blondie, and was quite smug that I was into them before they charted this year with Denis.

The charts were full of late punk/early new wave to Disco. Everything from Siouxie and X-Ray Specs, to Sylvester and Chic.

I was thirteen, and was mainly wearing Italian suits, button down collar shirts, and very narrow suede ties. It was also the year when I started with a bunion, when I shoved my size ten, E-fitting plates of meat, into incredibly pointed shoes.

WE WANT YOU, WE WANT YOU, WE WANT YOU AS A NEW RECRUIT!
