Re: Possible Miricle Pill
This pill is actually a contaceptive pill and is years away from being on the market. It has not yet been tested by humans and as usual the press and scientific community are merely speculating about its possible advantages. Bear in mind that with all pills there are side effects.
There is already a product on the market with similar properties. The Mirena coil springs to mind and this works very well. What many women will see as a drawback to this new pill and the Mirena coil is that it will stop your periods completely. A lot of women see having periods as a normal way of telling that their bodies are working proplerly. This may be a reason why women seem to prefer the traditional combined pill over the Mirena. What a lot of women fail to realise is that the 'periods' that they get from the combined pill are not periods at all, but withdrawal bleeds which are totally different.
At this moment in time, most female GPs and Gynaecologists prefer the Mirena coil over the combined pill. I have a few friends who have had Mirena inserted and they all say that once you get used to not having periods........it's brill.
