Post Deliveries

Will someone tell me whats going on with the post at the minute?

I've just had my post delivered at 15.45. Last October and November the post was delivered roundabout 9.30am. December it got a bit later about 12 -12.30 which i expected especially coming up to christmas. But now in the new year they seem to be getting later and later. Last friday it was 3.30 yesterdays post was at 12.30 thought oh its getting back to normal... and today its now quarter to four. Oh Saturday when i got the post it was about 12 o clock. I always thought postmen finished around 2pm seeing as they started early in the morning.

I quite often don't get mine till the afternoon - don't know why it is so erratic now.
Is there a postie on the forum who can explain?

Re: Post Deliveries

Id expect it as something to do with the amount of things to post. For example if one postman cover 40 streets he might have to do 20 then go back and then do the other 20. Plus postmen work 2 different shifts so in theory you could get it at 6PM

Re: Post Deliveries

Possibly a shortage of posties. the other day our postie was still delivering mail late afternoon, nowhere near his usual round, so either he was covering for someone off sick, or grabbing a bit of overtime.

Re: Post Deliveries

I think it's all to do with one of the changes in working hours. Pretty sure they are no longer allowed to finish work when the round is finished and therefore they take their time. Also recall something about not being able to leave the sorting office before a certain time as well.

Re: Post Deliveries

I also heard they are not supposed to leave sorting office before 10am and anyone wanting delivery before a certain time has to pay for the priviledge
