From my understanding, this "Posthumus Tax" has been misinterpreted. It would appear that the idea being mooted is that OAP's would have the option to ask their local authority to defer their council tax payments in return for the council having a charge on their homes when they decease.

I don't think that is nessessarily a bad idea; it gives pensioners more money in their pocket to play with while they are alive. The only people who could grumble about it would be the family inheritors of the property, who would have to settle cash-wise or take only a cut on the sale of the property. Alot of pensioners with troublesome siblings may well like that idea.

Since when did Tunbridge Wells need a posh side? I thought it was posh enough already or is it there are posh people, very posh people and absolute snobs? They wont mind theve got more money than gumption.
