Have been with TXU Energi, which recently changed to Powergen, for quite a while now for my electricity, and earlier this year, decided to change to them for my gas supply.
This was following some appalling treatment from British Gas re my supply.
Rang them on Wednesday evening telling them that I would like to change my Quantum card gas meter to a quarterly credit meter.
I was told “We don’t have your gas supply, but we can make enquiries as to who does”.
“You definitely do”, says I,” I changed in Feb this year and was sent one of those generic type quantum cards”
Load of blah blah blah back & forth follows.
Eventually - “We have no record of you on our computers for your gas supply, Mrs ********, but we will investigate and get back to you this evening”.
Obviously no reply came.
This morning I received a letter from Powergen thanking me for choosing them for my gas supply, and to await instructions as to what to do next. Arghh!
Getting angry now, I rang Transco this morning and asked them who was supplying my gas.
Quick check of address & postcode (all of 10 seconds) reveals that I signed up with TXU - which is now Powergen in Feb this year. Fancy that!
They gave me a meter point ref to quote to Powergen.
Apparently not an unusual scenario.
Not quoting anybody but it seems one section of this company doesn’t necessarily know what the others are doing.
The upshot is that I had to make three extra phone calls to sort this situation out, and actually had to cancel the new account
they took it upon themselves to set up.
Is it beyond these people to make the simple enquiry with Transco that I did?
Have they any common sense at all!
