Like anything else accyman sport must mirror life itself, there are winners and losers in life and to stop kids playing sports because they are not all good at it is plain stupid, is it any wonder that our sports teams don't do well these days

it wont be long before schools will be providing spring boards for teh kids that arnt good at basketball

currently they are providing stilts but health and safety are concerned pupils may get splinters

I was the only one of my friends who didn't go to prom, and I told them that I thought it was a waste of my time to spend an evening with people I didn't intend on spending much, if any time with once I had left school. I don't regret making that choice. I also didn't go on the primary school trip to france which I also thought was a waste of money and I didn't see what relevance it would have to my education. I don't regret making this choice either.

I think what stands out for me is that I've always been given the choice. I've never brought home a letter and heard my mum say 'well that's something I'll have to start saving for', she's always just asked first whether I even want to go. I then weighed up the benefits of doing something against what I would normally do and then made a choice. No pressure to ever go to things that I didn't want to go to.

I think that what probably happens with most kids is that their parents just assume that they will really want to go so they can just be like everyone else. Fortunately I've never been one to care if I'm like everyone else

If they'd encourage difference and maybe even a bit of rebellion in their kids, they'd probably find that their kids would be less likely to want to even go on the trips and stuff.

What a slap in the face, for anyone who thought you were a friend, to be told you didn't intend to waste your time on them again. You really don't give a damn about anyone else's feelings, do you? Unless, of course, they all felt the same way about you...............

You made that decision at 11 yr old ? It's a good job your parents didn't call you Pinocchio, you would have had to get one of your beloved buses to wipe your nose by now

Ya your right West Ender, we are going more like the yanks ever way you turn, its not that long ago that that Woman from Burnley was featured taking her kids to America to appear in these pageant competitions, it was her ego trip not exactly what the kids wanted especially the young lad

I find it hard to see what is so difficult to believe about an 11yr old making the choice not to go abroad on a school trip. My little sister is 10 and recently made the exact same decision. Children at that age make far more complex decisions these days on issues that used to be reserved just for adults.

On that programme on the BBC last night about breast enlargements one of the girls said that she'd thought of having a breast enlargement from the age of 11! If a child is capable of thinking about something like that, I'm pretty sure that any child could decide whether or not they wanted to go on a school trip.

Ask any 11yr old if they want to go visit somewhere. I'm sure they'll tell you yes or no.

Unless you're unlucky enough to have a child who admits to saying one thing, and meaning the other, or saying contrary things just for their own amusement.

In that case a parent would be unsure what the child really wanted to do, and may end up in a strait jacket in a padded cell, slowly rocking themselves backwards and forwards.
