Prospects Update & Courses

Prospects offers lots of free courses but there never well advertised. There are a few on here which might be off interest to some members.

Allotment advice etc.

EDGE END WOODLAND WORK DAY, Great Harwood
Saturday 25th April, 10 till 3pm
We will be carrying out general maintenance of the bog garden area and
hazel hedge that was planted last year.
Meeting Place: Edge End Lane
ALLOTMENT FOOD GROWING, Oswaldtwistle
Saturday 16th May, 10am to 12 noon
Come along and get an introduction to allotment food growing at the Heys
Allotment site in Oswaldtwislte. Please contact Ian Hodgson 01254

GUIDED WALK ROUND HUNCOAT TRAIL, Huncoat
Sunday 10th May, 10am
A local Huncoat resident will lead a walk around the Huncoat Trail. The
trail is 9 miles long and sturdy footwear is recommended. Please bring a
packed lunch and liquid refreshment.
Meeting Place: Next to the stocks on Higher Gate Road
FOOTPATH INSTALLATION, Woodnook
Friday 22nd May and Friday 23rd May, 10am till 2pm
We’ll be working with local residents to create a new footpath leading from
King George V Playing Field to Woodnook Allotment. Come along and
learn some new skills!
Meeting Place: Top of Belfield Road
GUIDED BAT WALK, Accrington
Friday 29th May 2009, 8pm till 9.30pm
You’ll be led around Arden Hall on a guided bat walk, complete with bat
detectors to hear the batty activity. Please bring a torch!
Meeting Place: Arden Hall main gates, Plantation Road
MILLENNIUM BABY WOODLAND, Altham
Saturday 6th June, 11am till 1pm
To celebrate World Environment Day, we’ll be having an open day at Millennium
Baby Woodland. Various wildlife activities, refreshments and a
competition to design an entrance sign to the woodland.
Meeting Place: Millennium Baby Woodland off Burnley Road, Altham
DONKEY BACK PICNIC SITE CLEAN UP, Church
Saturday 13th June, 10am till 2pm
We’re going to clean up and carry out some general maintenance work on
our much loved Donkey Back Picnic Site which is located next to the
Leeds to Livepool Canal. Come and help us out!
Meeting place: Donkey Back Picnic Site (access off St James Road)
TRAINING EVENT AT ALTHAM OAK & CARPENTRY
Thursday 18th June, 1.30pm till 4pm
Special training event and site visit looking at running a cooperative and
social enterprise. Please book by contacting the PROSPECTS office.
