Punctuation Matters....

Since Dotti found my example of faulty punctuation funny.....and asked if there were anymore examples out there.
I thought I might start a thread relating to this.
It will either fly...or it will sink like a brick budgie.

On an application form which asked for an applicants leisure interests.
‘I like cooking my family and my pets’

Well, I suppose it ensured a varied diet.
Your turn now.

Re: Punctuation Matters....

That’s a great idea, Margaret. I couldn’t think of any off-hand at the moment so I have ‘’borrowed’ a couple. Here goes:

‘I’m sorry, I love you’. Leave out the comma and it’s ‘I’m sorry I love you’.
'Today we are going to learn to cut and paste, children'. Leave out the comma and I think if this is how it was written there would be some very upset children and a lot of irate parents.

Re: Punctuation Matters....

Here is an ‘original’ (all my own work, for what it’s worth):

‘This morning I am going to watch the dog, mow the lawn, and then drive the car into town.’

A fairly ordinary sentence, but take out the commas and boy! that dog is one very clever animal – just hope he has a driver’s licence.
