Re: Queen to visit Accrington in May.
She's only driving through here, on the way back home.
After collecting the all rents from the Trough of Bowland, and most of north Lancashire.

Blimey.
The peoples' Class Warior's really a closet monarchist.
You can tug your forlock, and subserviently bend over for Prince Edward, or whichever person, there by their birthright, is visiting your hostel.
I'll stick with, at least the concept of, democracy.

...and just how many of those, directly, or indirectly, have you voted for?

Come on we already have a form of democracy.. defuncting the royals as "head" of state would not change much.. in fact we would have to elect some other moron as a president.

Principles?
Ring a bell?
If by accident of birth, my Mummy has been sovereign, and I her first born, you'd happily bow down to me, as your head of state?
I think that's the best argument I've ever put forward, for republicanism.
There's probably an even more sick making example, than using myself.
I'll have to try and come up with a name.
Though it'll be hard.

I agree, she hasn't done much wrong, in sixty years.
However that's down to luck.
Having a head of state, decided by the lottery of birth, is antiquated, and undemocratic.
If we had an elected head of state for life, and the majority of people voted it should be the Queen, fair enough. Not a muff out of me.
However, having the democratic right to choose means we have the option of not having a pillock like Prince Charles as head of state.
Or Lord help us, one of his brothers.
Even worse, if some attack happened whilst all the present Royal family were gathered together, all you monarchists could find yourselves bowing and scraping to another German, who incidentally lives in France, with Princess Caroline, one Prince Ernst of Hanover.
Who is currently on the line of succession, but some would claim has a stronger claim on the throne than the Queen, through the Stuart line.
Long live the Republic!
|
The only problem I have with that is we would probably end up with a prat like Tony Blair or George W running the show, now that would frighten me

The problem is wallop, doesn't matter where you go in the country, everwheres the same, did you not see the news the other day about closed town centre shops, it was quite eye opening

If you are lucky enough to speak to the Queen, don't forget to address her as ma'am as in ham, not ma'am as in farm.
