Re: Racecourse for Accy?

What an interesting idea, it would make a very welcome change from serried rows of tin sheds, which is the last proposal for the area that I heard and it would also be wildlife friendly. With the backdrop of Pendle it would be quite an attractive site for televising too. I can see no objection to it.

This is more the sort of thing we need to pull in tourist money. We could also do with a couple of national museums to re-locate parts of their collections here, like they did with Tate North and the Royal Armouries in Leeds. I know that the Victoria and Albert Museum and the British Museum have massive collections that no one ever sees because they do not have the space to display it all, as does the Science Museum. Put them together with some spectacular architectural extravagance like the Lowry in Salford and we could be on to a winner here.

Re: Racecourse for Accy?

I don't even think there would be a problem of race-day traffic jams given the proximity to the motorway, certainly compared to other racecourses.

I wonder if the success of this is all going to rest upon to the reaction of Hyndburn/Ribble Valley councils and the land availability?
