Railway Station Car Park

Have noticed that the car park at Accrington Railway Station is fenced off. Anybody know why? It used to be full most of the day and was wondering where people are parking instead of there.

Might be that Tesco bulldozers are getting ready, then again might just be a water leak or a few holes need filled

Can't see it being Tesco just yet plus the Gypsies are on the old Council car park again which makes me think it isn't for them but could be wrong.

Re: Railway Station Car Park

11m high turbine !! Does this mean that our eco friendly railway station is swinging into full mode.

My assumption is that the Tesco proposals will not encroach on any of this work…best not to assume too much.

Re: Railway Station Car Park

Sure is Willow. The ticket office looks like it's going to cross the tracks! I also think it said in the Observer a week or two back that the two turbines were set to become one and it would be about 1 1/2 metres shorter than the original proposal. But don't quote me!!

Not really Jaysay, just like to nose at them every now and then .. Park is much better at it than me.

They are still not putting them up regularly ... last one now 2nd May approx.!!
As for decisions, doesn't seem to be any entered since September .. get the feeling they don't want us to know or cutting back ... Can't be sure that the work they are doing now is this application, but would think so.

Still don't get answers to E-Mails either, last one I sent re. Coppice Shelter hasn't been answered ... even forwarded again asking 'if question too difficult for them!' .. suppose that will really cross me off their list now..

Re: Railway Station Car Park

I've just been told about a letter which was left on the windscreens of cars parked on the Station Car Park before it was fenced off.

This is what it said:

Quote:
Dear Sir or Madam

ACCRINGTON RAILWAY STATION – EAGLE STREET CAR PARK

This letter is to inform you that from Saturday 14th June, 2008 the County Council will be closing the Eagle Street car park to enable preliminary works to begin for the development of the new booking office and associated facilities as part of a planned major upgrade of Accrington Railway Station. Please could you ensure that your vehicle is off the car park by midnight as our contractor will be on site to secure it.

The plans for the new booking office at Accrington Railway Station recently received planning permission and details can be viewed on the County Council’s website, www.lancashire.gov.uk, where details of the project including artist’s impressions can be found in the Development Control Committee section.

I hope this will not cause you too much inconvenience.

Yours faithfully,

Richard Watts
Rail Projects Manager
Lancashire County Council
