Malcolm (Pinky) White was a music teacher. I think he left part way through the school year in 1982. He went to be head of music at Westholme, if my memory serves me right.

He was my headmaster for 5 years (We became Moorhead in my 2nd year). Sad loss I always thought he was a decent Headmaster, I remeber Kath Jones as well a very formidable woman.

A one women army determined to turn out decent people into the world from her school. Did find Mr Bailey a bit intimidating though I believe he taught you respect because of it.

Although I had a continuing series of run-ins with Ralph and I didn't get on particularly well with Katie, looking back on it all now, I can see what good teachers they were. As you say, Spuggie, they taught you "respect" - a commodity in very short supply these days!

Re: Ralph Bailey. R.I.P.

I have always strongly believed that respect is earned, not bestowed. I had a lot of respect for Mr Bailey and Mrs Jones.

I respect the individual, not the job title, or the position held. For this reason, my respect for the next incumbent at Moorhead, Terry Neville, was bordering on contempt.

Fond memories of my time at Moorhead under the watchful eyes of Mr Bailey. Regards to his family.

Mr Bailey was only my Head for a couple of years before handing over to Mrs Jones;I liked and respected him. He was all you would expect from a Headmaster, aloof and slightly intimidating.
Katie Jones was a great Headmistress;very sympathetic when my parents split up 4 weeks before my O-levels;she got me extra time for a course work project and was delighted when I got the grades I needed.
