Re: ramadam

with the great confusion that is time zones and co-operation its hard for everyone to start on one day

it shud b simple - did u see the moon? but it appears that the moon has opted for selective viewing as to wether it was seen or not - sometimes in the same city!!

Re: ramadam

I've always been told that the winter fasting period is a bit easier than the summer one as the days are shorter. Well, done for your self restraint.

PS. Pilky I think that's one of those occasions where tolerance is called for and on this thread I'd have to say that your post is a bit out of order.

Re: ramadam

Hmm! Gayle I have to ask do you actually know any muslims who would be offended by P'Bus driver's posting, those I know would either laugh or shrug their shoulders.
As for the fasting not all muslims fast ageand health come into the reckoning.

Re: ramadam

As I say much of the perceived offence is imagined by third parties....This is why the race issue is so inflamed in this country. We can and do get on with various creeds and cultures if our betters would only leave it to us,without trying to promote a religious Shangri La,that cannot possibly work .
Happy Eid!

Re: ramadam

I probably shouldn't have said anything and you're right when the third party takes offence it's usually off the mark. I wasn't suggesting that he was offensive because he was talking about food - you're right most Muslims wouldn't be bothered by that. It was just the fact that he used bacon and sausage as his chosen food - I just thought it was a bit tactless and unnecessary.

I would defend anyone's right to eat a bacon sandwich - it's is the primary reason why I'm not a vegetarian - I just wouldn't take one into a Muslim's house.
