re Left hand drive cars on UK roads
the mention of Ronaldo and his motoring accident in another thread got me to wondering how big of a problem driving Left hand drive cars on UK roads is ? . Has any Accy web user in the UK had problems with Euro cars driving mistakenly on the 'wrong' side .
Anyone know of any accident figures ?
Thought about putting up a poll " Should the UK drive on the Right like the rest of mainland Europe" but thought better of it .

Shouldn't make any difference really SJ once you get used to it, but there will be bad drivers irrespective of left or right hand drive, there are people who just shouldn't be on the road full stop. As far as the Renaldo thing I've never understood why there needs to be road cars which can do 205mph, its just tempting Boy Racers to break the law

don't really see a problem with left or right hand drive cars, only problem i see is some of the "Clowns" behind the wheel.

The sheer cost of doing that prohibits it from being done. There's all the road markings that would need changing, re-positioning of road signs, re-structuring of some junctions, complete re-planning of town centre routes due to current one way systems etc, etc, etc.
Plus half the loonies behind a wheel now wouldn't have the brains to adjust...

It would be a cool way to get rid of half the loonies behind a wheel, though.
All we'd need is a way to make sure they didn't take anyone else out at the same time...

Re: re Left hand drive cars on UK roads
That lunatic 2nd ex of mine dealt in secondhand yankee cars at one time.
I was often a front seat passenger and found it a harrowing experience - to seem to be in the driving seat but have no control. This was made worse by his lunatic habit of racing against other motorists.....

I dont think many boy racers will drive cars that can do 205mph. Thats why Citroen built the Saxo.
Most cars can break the speed limit.

Amazed how Ronaldo got insurance as he is only 23 years old, and most insurance companies wouldn't touch him for this car under 25 !! Money talks though doesn't it !

It would be very, very expensive, but that wouldnt worry him.
Most companies wouldnt touch him because he is a footballer.

Re: re Left hand drive cars on UK roads
The insurance was probably done through the clubs brokers.

Am I right in saying the biggest problem is that you can't see when over taking cars. That includes buses and other vehicles that are stopped at the side of the road. Do those little mirror things help at all that you can get?
Car parks must be fun too as the pay booth is on the wrong side
