Reeves arrested

Comedian Vic Reeves has been arrested and charged with drink driving and leaving the scene of an accident, police say.

The 46-year-old, whose real name is James Moir, was involved in a collision in Kent .

"We can confirm that just after 3 p.m. on Saturday, a James Moir, born 1959, was charged with driving a vehicle with excess alcohol and failing to stop at the scene of an accident," a Kent police spokesman said. The Sun reported Reeves had collided with another car near his home, careered up a bank and crashed into a fence.

I thought it was Jim Moir!!

Re: Reeves arrested

Can't abide drink drivers, they should be locked up and the key thrown away. Better still transport them to some desert island surrounded by starving crocs, then they won't cost the tax payer much, apart from the cost of transportation.

Re: Reeves arrested

I was almost killed the other month by a Muppet driver on a mobile phone,I was using a zebra crossing and if the OAP who was crossing with me was a bit faster on his pins he could have got him as well! When people drive they must know that it only takes a second and your life and others can be ruined,as for Vic Reeves any drink driver is a fool and I'm not laughing!!!

Zebra crossing are very dangerous. They should all be changed to pelicans ( a note for our overseas friends - crossings with traffic lights). A lot of pedestrians don't know how to use zebras never mind drivers.

If your not sure read below. From the Highway Code website

Crossings

At all crossings. When using any type of crossing you should
  • always check that the traffic has stopped before you start to cross or push a pram onto a crossing
  • always cross between the studs or over the zebra markings. Do not cross at the side of the crossing or on the zig-zag lines, as it can be dangerous.
You MUST NOT loiter on zebra, pelican or puffin crossings.
Laws ZPPPCRGD reg 19 & RTRA sect 25(5)

Zebra crossings. Give traffic plenty of time to see you and to stop before you start to cross. Vehicles will need more time when the road is slippery. Remember that traffic does not have to stop until someone has moved onto the crossing. Wait until traffic has stopped from both directions or the road is clear before crossing. Keep looking both ways, and listening, in case a driver or rider has not seen you and attempts to overtake a vehicle that has stopped. Where there is an island in the middle of a zebra crossing, wait on the island and follow Rule 19 before you cross the second half of the road - it is a separate crossing.

Re: Reeves arrested

Comedian Vic Reeves has been dropped from his role advertising car insurance. The news follows weekend reports in which he crashed his vintage Jaguar into a stationary car in Maidstone before careering into a bank and hitting a fence.

Mr Reeves was formerly employed as the voice of the nodding dog in the Churchill adverts, also starring his longtime comedy partner and friend Bob Mortimer.

A spokesman for Churchil said they took road safety "very seriously", and had decided to withdraw the adverts.

Reeves was arrested and charged with drink driving and leaving the scene of an accident. He is due to appear before magistrates on the 7th of April.

Here at Funny.co.uk we very rarely make public safety announcements, but please, don't drink and drive.

Note: We would also like to point out that Mr Bob Mortimer was not in any way connected with the incident.
