Refuge Removal
Hello All
Just moved into my lovely new home & along with it I have created a lot of rubbish...
I was told if I rang the council they would move it for me but this is not the case.
I dont drive, and no ones willing to help really, I have bagged the rubbish in carriers and bin bags and was told when I rang council last week they would collect it with the bins but when my husband questioned them they said they couldnt take it...
Any ideas???
Many Thanks

Re: Refuge Removal
Is it because of what is in the bags that they won't take it away?
You might have to get a mini skip.

Oh dear! - I thought that you needed the women's refuge, when what you really meant was refuse.

Re: Refuge Removal
Dont think so. its nothing messy just mixed wrapping from moving and new items and furniture we've bought. a skip sounds costly!

Re: Refuge Removal
If you do end up taking it to the tip they will make you go through it all so you put the right stuff in the right skips, what i would do is sort it out in the right bins and put it out for the binmen a little each week, in Blackburn we now get charged for household waste removal (on top of paying council tax) if we have anything that needs removing, old tv's, beds, furniture etc, we have to pay the council, its really no wonder people fly tip

If it mostly cardboard & paper then it put the paper in the white waste paper bags, & cardboard should be stacked along side it, for when the recycling waqgon comes round, every other week.

Why, have you got a van?
I hope you're registered for waste removals.

Why did you buy new items when you want to bin them.

Why wont the council take it?? they have taken items from my back yard before now, they ask you to leave gate unlocked so they can get access, they will take it generally when its your general rubbish collection day & put it in the back of the bin wagon.

Re: Refuge Removal
The Councils Bulk Item collection service is superb - I used it only 2 weeks ago.
I think we have been very lucky in Hyndburn to have this service for free as many other Boroughs including Rossendale charge for the service.
